National Bike Week
University Celebrates National Bike Week
To celebrate National Bike Week 2011, the University will hold a Bike to Work Breakfast on Friday 24th June, where all staff members who cycle to work will be offered a free nutritious and cyclist-friendly breakfast at New Hall Dining Room, North Haugh, between 8.00am to 9am.
This is part of a series of initiatives being undertaken by the University to encourage staff and students to use sustainable transport.
This event also celebrates the University’s Pool Bike Scheme.
Pool Bikes are available to all staff for travel to, from and between places of work within the university. We use reclaimed bikes (from our internal abandoned bike scheme) and these are repaired by a local community enterprise known as Bikeworks.

Using the scheme, staff can get some exercise and play a part in making a contribution to a better environment. Feedback also shows that cycling can be just as quick as taking the car as it is easier to get through traffic and find a parking space when you get to your destination.
If you are interested in a staff pool bike please contact us at environment@st-andrews.ac.uk.
