Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
This course gives some background to the principles of teaching languages, and then introduces participants to some of the main activities and materials that are used in English classes.

- for students who are going to teach abroad as part of their degree

Course aims
The aim is for students to:
- raise awareness of the practicalities and skills involved in teaching English
- plan and deliver an effective lesson and series of lessons to a class using published or specifically created materials
Course structure
The following areas are covered:
- teaching young learners
- teaching the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing
- exposure to unknown foreign language
- planning lessons
- communication in the classroom and managing behaviour
- producing materials
- dealing with errors and correction
- peer teaching and feedback
- being a language assistant OR teaching adults
