About Medicine at St Andrews

At St Andrews you will experience a wide range of teaching and assessment methods including lectures, laboratory based practicals, computer based resources, small group tutorials and problem solving. Dissection of the human body remains an important feature of the teaching programme.

There is a formally taught knowledge stream supported by self-directed learning elements designed to encourage the application of medical sciences to clinical problems. In addition a customised series of patient-based tutorials runs throughout the entire course. Patient contact is offered in through primary care initiatives in the community and there is a substantial programme of clinical skills training throughout the course.
