St Andrews is located in Fife, on the north east coast of Scotland, between Edinburgh and Dundee, and is most famous as the 'Home of Golf', as well as being a cultural and historic centre.
The University is a significant part of the town. Founded in 1413, St Andrews is the oldest university in Scotland, and the third oldest in the UK. The University has some 7000 students, and is consistently highly ranked among UK universities for quality of research, teaching, and student satisfaction.
