Diploma in Business and English
Students on this course prepare for their masters degree in a top British university, as matriculated students, living in University of St Andrews halls of residence, taught by University of St Andrews staff. After the Diploma, successful students progress to the University of St Andrews School of Management for their master's degree, or elsewhere if they prefer.
Why study at St Andrews?
The Diploma in Business and English is designed for students who have studied to general degree level in their own country (SCQF 9). They would like to study for a master's degree in the broad area of Business but lack the academic qualifications for direct entry onto a master's degree. Equally, it is also necessary to improve both their academic study skills and their English, so that they can cope well on their master's degree the following year.
Course aims
There are two specific aims of the Diploma in Business and English. The first is to boost the students' academic level to the equivalent of the end of an honours degree (SCQF10). This is done through studying seven assessed academic modules on a variety of Business-related topics.
The second aim is to improve the students' academic study skills and English, so that by the end of the course, they are able to write a 3000-word academic essay, give an 15 minute academic presentation, take adequate notes from lectures, read academic textbooks effectively and are able to participate fully in academic life at masters level in a UK university.Course structure

In addition, we require IELTS 5.5, which must be achieved by the end of July in the year of entry. Students must also submit two references on headed paper. Any information about relevant work experience is welcomed. All this information should be submitted together with a completed application form.
