Liang obtained both bachelor's degrees from China University of Petroleum, Beijing, one in Electronic and Information Engineering, and another in Accounting. After that, he completed his master's degree in Analytical Finance in the University of St Andrews in 2008.

Liang's currently carrying out research on the problem of pricing Asian options. A range of pricing methods, especially Laplace transform inversion algorithms will be investigated to find out how accurate one can achieve and how intensive the computation is.
