Jinyu graduated from the University of Auckland, with a Bachelor degree in Commerce, double majored in Economics and Finance in 2006. After this she graduated from the University of Essex, with a MSc degree in Economics in 2007. She worked in Visa, the Beijing Office as a Project Assistant before she joined the University of St Andrews in 2008.
