The University of St Andrews is Scotland's first university and the third oldest in the English-speaking world, founded in 1413. Over six centuries it has established a reputation as one of Europe's leading and most distinctive centres for teaching and research. The School of Economics & Finance at the University of St Andrews is a dynamic research-led School that aims to both undertake research of the highest quality and to bring the understanding and excitement from the latest cutting-edge research into its teaching throughout its undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
The School is delighted to announce its intention to award a number of scholarships to selected successful applicants for its MSc in Economics programme that commences in September 2012.
The MSc in Economics will provide advanced training in Microeconomics,
Macroeconomics, Econometrics and Mathematical Economics, both by means of
compulsory core modules and also by offering a range of specialised optional
courses. This training is expected to equip each student with the skills
needed for the initiation and completion of their MSc dissertation, and to
prepare them for carrying out original research in their selected fields.
The School welcomes applications from students with a good undergraduate
qualification (either held or expected to be acquired by September 2012) and
with a strong Economics and quantitative component.

PhD programme.
The scholarships to be awarded consist of partial waivers of the tuition fees, up to a maximum of 30% of the total amount. In the selection process priority will be given to successful applicants of exceptional merit who have demonstrated promise and willingness to pursue PhD research. All current holders of an offer for the MSc in Economics will also be considered for these awards. All interested potential applicants are strongly encouraged to apply soon.
