MLitt Scripture & Theology - Update

MLitt (Theological Interpretation of Scripture, due to be re-invented in 2011-12 as ‘Scripture and Theology) associated with the Institute has run for three years. It not only to introduced but deepened students’ competence in the areas of biblical languages, modern languages (principally German), biblical hermeneutics, history of biblical interpretation and of hermeneutics, theological interpretation of Scripture, the biblical theology of a certain theme (this year it has been ‘divine presence’.)

All this too place at a time when economic conditions would seem discouraging for fledgling scholars to take such intra-disciplinary risks.

Not all students intend to proceed to PhD. However of those who have done so recently or have been given places, a sample of PhD topics ( pursued both here and at other institutions) is illuminating: Paul Ricoeur, Hilary of Poitiers, Wisdom, Hebrews, John and OT imagery.
