2013 International Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature

The School of Divinity is happy to announce that the International Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature will be held at the University of St Andrews from July 7-11, 2013.
With 650 to 1000 participants attending, this event is one of the largest academic conferences ever to be held at the University of St Andrews. Many of the attending scholars are the world’s leading experts on Biblical Literature.
There will be sessions devoted to the Dead Sea Scrolls, Archaeology and the Bible within the Context of the Ancient Near East, Literary Studies of the Bible, Bible and Theology, Bible and Media, the Concept of Law in the Biblical and Ancient Near Eastern Tradition, Pseudepigrapha, Synoptic Gospels, and many other topics.
There will be over one hundred sessions and innovative and exceptional seminars and workshops.
The program will feature a large number of additional seminars, including the following sessions organized by faculty of the School of Divinity: Thirty Years Temple Scroll, Reviewing The God of the Living (by H. Spieckermann & R. Feldmeier), Paul and the Faithfulness of God (NT Wright), Session in Honour of Richard Bauckham, Canones—Scriptures between Jews and Christians--, Elephantine—a session in honour of Bezalel Porten--, Ritual Innovation, Ezekiel in International Perspective, Qumran Scribal Practice, The Name and the Image of God, Mark at the Crossroad of Research, etc.
The organizing committee has also arranged an exciting social and cultural program for delegates featuring receptions, musical evenings, local Scottish cuisine, a golfing event, whisky tasting, and tours.
