Bursaries for Postgraduate Research in Art History
Alfred
and Catherine Forrest lived at Burnwynd on the Lade Braes in St Andrews.
Alfred was a former Principal of Plymouth College of Art and Catherine,
nee Carstairs, was a graduate of the University of St Andrews and a former
teacher of history. Mrs Forrest had in her retirement written a book of
family and local history ‘Living in St Andrews’, published
by the University of St Andrews Library.
Childless, the Forrests decided to leave their estate principally for the benefit
of postgraduate students in History and Art at the University of St Andrews
through a trust that would be administered by a suitable charity.
Burnwynd History and Art Ltd is responsible for the fulfilment of the conditions
of the will that established the trust, faithful to the intentions of Alfred
and Catherine Forrest in perpetuity.
Burnwynd History and Art Ltd is a Company Limited by Guarantee registered in
Scotland number 263460 and accepted by the Inland Revenue as a Charity with
the number SC 035224.
