Postgraduate programmes

The Centre offers the following range of taught and research-based postgraduate programmes in Central and Eastern European Studies :
Graduate Diploma
A nine-month programme of taught courses only, beginning in September and concluding the following May.
MLitt
A one-year programme of taught courses and a dissertation of not more than 15,000 words.
MPhil
A two-year programme of taught courses in the first year and a dissertation of not more than 40,000 words completed during a second year of study.
PhD
Applications from suitably qualified candidates wishing to undertake a Ph.D. are also welcomed. This involves three years' full-time research and is examined by submission of a thesis of up to 80,000 words.
The postgraduate taught courses offered by the Centre are listed below.
For the Graduate Diploma, MLitt and MPhil programmes, three of the following courses are selected. Not more than two courses may be taken from any one subject area. Normally, two courses are taken in the first semester and one in the second. Please note than not all courses are available in any one year.
