Support and advice

Support, befriending and advice for staff and students

The Chaplain is available to anyone connected with the University to discuss any matter of concern (whether personal, practical or spiritual) on a confidential basis. Nothing is relayed to the University. This may involve stress situations, personal relationships, faith or non-faith issues, bereavement, family worries, or whatever. Also I often visit hopsitals and would be glad to know of anyone in hospital. Also you may be concerned about a friend or colleague and may want to discuss what to do or not to do, keeping the person's name anonymous.

This is open to those with no faith or with faith, Christian, Muslim, Jewish or other faith. There is never any religious pressure. Faith matters may or may not be discussed, depending on the student or staff member. People come from various faith persuasions or from none. The other members of the Chaplaincy Team are also available for consultation. Call at the Chaplaincy Centre or phone Monday - Friday during office hours to make an appointment. No matter what your concern may be, one of the chaplains will be ready to listen. In case of an emergency, the Chaplain can be contacted at his home during evenings, nights or weekends, via the Chaplaincy.

The chaplain also offers confidential support to people on questions of sexuality.  Online resources for Christians and others over issues in sexuality can be found at Affirmation Scotland
