Retreat in Daily Life 2012
Traditionally a ‘retreat’ has meant an extended time of silent prayer and reflection away from home, often in a monastery or retreat house. However, not everyone has the time or money to make a residential retreat or is attracted to extended periods of silence.
A retreat in daily life offers an alternative. It is a way of finding support in prayer and reflection with the assistance of a one-to-one prayer guide in the midst of everyday life. Retreatants are encouraged to bring the realities of their everyday lives into the retreat experience. Prayer guides help retreatants pray and reflect on these realities and look for connections between faith, prayer and everyday life.
An Ignatian Retreat in Daily Life has been held biennially in the University since 1984-5. The next one is planned for 5 weeks: 19 February – 20 March 2012.
During the Retreat, participants meet a prayer guide on a weekly basis and receive help and support in prayer, scripture reflection and issues of faith. Serious prayer is attempted each day.
Those who have participated in the past have found the experience a helpful and encouraging one.
The prayer guides are experienced in retreat leadership. For more information please see this year's information booklet.
