Research
Fabio's research interests are focused on the relationship between technological change, economic growth and unemployment. He published a critical survey of theoretical contributions to this field in 2003. Since then, he has been developing his research programme and he has concentrated his attention on matching models with two-sided heterogeneity and skill-biased technological change. From a microeconomic perspective, Fabio studies how forward-looking agents take investment decisions in skill-acquisition and technology adoption when the labour market is characterised by frictions. From a macroeconomic perspective, his research links the labour market outcomes to the degree of technological diffusion, economic expansion and unemployment. Fabio is currently working on the evaluation of alternative policy-making prescriptions to tackle the issue of persistent unemployment in growing economies. He is also interested in extending his work on matching with heterogeneous agents to other research fields.
