Internet job hunting

How vacancies are advertised

Large employers advertise vacancies on their own websites but also publicise them on Careers Centre JobsOnline and other graduate job sites. A wider selection of graduate job websites can be found below and on Job hunting on the internet.

Some employers choose to advertise their vacancies on sector specific websites. The Careers Centre Careers A-Z pages list the best job websites for the most popular graduate career areas.

Managing your internet job search

Looking for a job online can take up lots of time.  Put a regular date and time slot for your search in your diary eg one hour, twice a week and make sure you stick to this.  To ensure you don't miss the most recent vacancies sign up for email alerts.

Recruitment agencies and job boards

If you send your CV to a recruitment agency be prepared to be proactive.  Telephone them to talk over your CV and preferences.  Check back regularly to see if they have any opportunities that match your skills.  In the current economic climate uploading your CV to a job board can yield limited results for new graduates.
