Seeing an adviser at drop-in
The Careers Centre offers 20 minute drop-in sessions on a first come, first served basis.
- Thinking about career matters can seem overwhelming so breaking things down into small steps can help.
- We're aware that you're busy - working on things bit by bit can make them more manageable.
- At the end of the session it is intended that you will know what steps should be.
- Students and graduates see advisers about many different issues. These might include: working out what you want to do, getting help with job applications and interviews, considering postgraduate study or a gap year and how to get work experience in a particular field.
Drop-in is available for all students and recent graduates of the University of St Andrews on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2.00pm - 4.00pm.
Bookable appointments
Students who are in their penultimate or final year, postdocs and those studying for a Masters or Phd, can book an appointment with a careers adviser. Booked appointments generally last up to 30 minutes. Procedure for booking an appointment:
- Booking opens from 10am on the Monday prior to the week you'd like to have your appointment.
- You should present in person at the Careers Centre to book your appointment.
- By booking in person you will have the opportunity to discuss your needs with our receptionist and resource adviser, who will tell you who you can see and let you know what slots are available.
- The receptionist and resource adviser may also direct you to information to support you with your career-related activities.
Online advice
If you have graduated, or are away from St Andrews for the summer or a year abroad, you can use our online service to submit your CV or any careers-related query. An adviser will usually respond within five working days. If you're in St Andrews it is better to see an adviser in person.
The Careers Centre is strongly committed to offering equality of opportunity to all its users. A full description of relevant resources is available on the Diversity & Equality page.
