An A-Z of our services to employers

Advertising your vacancies

St Andrews Careers Centre is part of the Scottish Shared Vacancy Scheme. To post your graduate and internship vacancies online free of charge visit Graduate jobs and work experience.

Alumni Network

Increasingly, employers use St Andrews’ graduates working in their organisations to promote their opportunities. Our students appreciate the chance to network with them, and it also enhances your profile on campus.  Make sure any of our alumni working with you have registered with the Careers Alumni Network so that they can provide email information to students interested in your organisation.

Careers Centre Guide

St Andrews is part of a select group of universities who publish a Careers Centre Guide for our students in conjunction with GTI. This provides an opportunity for you to advertise your vacancies directly to St Andrews students. To advertise in the Guide for 2011/2012 or 2012/2013 phone GTI: 01491 826 262 or email sales@groupgti.com

Careers Fairs

We run three annual fairs in October: Law, Graduate Management and Finance and Science and Technology.  The venue is the Town Hall which is central and easily accessed by students and graduates. For further details see Careers Fairs.

Case Studies

If you have alumni of St Andrews working within your organisation ask them to write a case study about their current role or experience on your graduate training scheme. Visit  Graduate employment profiles for details.

CCD - Certificate in Career Development

This is a programme of workshops designed to get students thinking about their future by developing employability skills. If you are interested in running a workshop contact Pamela Small on 01334 462688.

Drop-in sessions with students

Students value the opportunity to chat informally with employers and graduates. A drop-in session can usually be held in our seminar room (refreshments can be supplied if requested). Some employers have also successfully used one of the popular coffee shops or bars in St Andrews as a drop-in venue. Contact Pamela Small to book your drop-in.

Email

We can email specific student groups and years on your behalf. Prepare your text and decide which students you would like to target (a maximum of four academic schools) and we do the rest free of charge. Subjects studied at St Andrews are listed on the main University website.

Posters

We can distribute posters advertising your events or vacancies throughout the university including the Students’ Association as well as Schools and Residences. Posters must be A4 in size.

Presentations

Hosting a presentation is an excellent way to give students an insight into your organisation and to inform them of your graduate programmes and vacation opportunities. Presentations take place during both semesters but the majority occur from the beginning of October to early December and can be held at lunchtime or in the evening.  Contact Pamela Small for information and advice.

Promotional materials and freebies

We hold an Open Day prior in Freshers' Week. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness of your organisation among the student body by donating promotional materials to go in our goodie bags. Items which particularly appeal to students include: pens, pencils, mugs, sweets and key rings.  Contact Linda Nicolson on 01334 462688 or email her at lmn1@st-andrews.ac.uk

Sponsorship

Sponsorship is a simple way to raise awareness of your brand name with our students. If you would like to consider sponsorship and wish to discuss options, please contact our Director, Paul Brown: 01334 462688 (pfb1@st-andrews.ac.uk)

Student Societies

We have good links with many of the student societies and inform their Presidents of new events and vacancies for circulation amongst members. If a particular society is closely aligned with your organisation’s interests, we can put you in contact with them. To discuss contacting societies, both official and unofficial, speak to Pamela Small. A list of official societies can be found on the Students' Association website.
