GRADskills Programme

GRADskills is a suite of workshops, networking events and activities specifically for research postgraduate students delivered by the Centre for Academic, Professional and Organisational Development (CAPOD).  The aim of GRADskills is to support the development of all researcher students at the University of St Andrews, to improve their research capability and widen their employability inside and outside of academia.

You can request a place on workshops using the University’s online booking system, the Personal Development Management System (PDMS).

Please note that GRADskills workshops will only “go live” for booking in PDMS one month before they are due to run.  You can see the whole year’s programme using the links below, by downloading a PDF with:

  • Workshops organised according to domains of the Researcher Development Framework (to follow)
  • Workshops grouped by relevance to your year of study (to follow)

GRADskills also organise a series of PG X-change seminars, which give you the opportunity to present your research or to chair a research seminar.

You can also apply for a GRADskills Innovation Grant to support short-term, well-defined projects to develop generic skills training resources or activities.

For more information on the full range of support offered to research staff and postgraduate students, including one-to-one advice, funding for external events, online training materials, support for those who teach, and much more, see CAPOD’s Research Postgraduate Students page.
