The University of St Andrews is an internationally recognised centre of research excellence. Biology at St Andrews was rated top in Scotland and second in the UK for Research Impact, with 84% of research judged as world leading or internationally excellent by the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014).
In 2015, the Times and Sunday Times University Guide has named St Andrews as Scottish University of the Year (the second year running) and ranked the University of St Andrews as 3rd in the United Kingdom.
St Andrews is a vibrant community with a large number of international students and staff. The environment within the BSRC fosters a level of collaboration and interdisciplinary research not typically seen in other research centres. Postgraduate students are encouraged to take part in our active seminar series as well as meet and interact with external seminar speakers.
