Travel to St Andrews
The nearest train station for St Andrews is Leuchars, about five miles away. Direct services include London Kings Cross (5½ hours, 3 times per day), Leeds (4 hours, three times), Birmingham (6 hours, twice), Oxford (8 hours, once) and Bristol (7 ½ hours, once). More destinations and more frequent services can be accessed by changing at Edinburgh (one hour from Leuchars).
On arrival at Leuchars, you can take a taxi (about £10) direct to New Hall (on the North Haugh ('hor') of the University), or take a bus (about £2.50, infrequent after 6pm) and ask to be let off at the North Haugh, just as the bus enters St Andrews.
Edinburgh airport has direct flights to the US (Atlanta/Delta, JFK/Delta, Newark/Continental), and to many European cities. From Edinburgh airport, you should take the Airlink100 to Haymarket rail station, then catch a train to Leuchars.
There is an overnight ferry service from Zeebrugge to Rosyth, from where a shuttle bus will take you to Inverkeithing rail station, about an hour from Leuchars station.

The conference will end at lunchtime on Friday, leaving enough time for you to reach Aberdeen in time for the Joint Session of the Mind Association and the Aristotelian Society, which begins at 5pm that day.
Train times for July have not yet been announced, but the current timetable has trains leaving Leuchars station (near St Andrews) at 13.12, 14.11 and 15.12. The journey to Aberdeen is direct, and takes one hour 25 minutes.
