The conference is dedicated to the memory of Peter Lipton (1954-2007)
The 2008 British Society for the Philosophy of Science conference will take place at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, on 10th and 11th July 2008. There will be three plenary sessions:
- Confirmation Theory and Statistical Inference - Branden Fitelson and Deborah Mayo
- Social Epistemology and Science - Melinda Fagan and Miranda Fricker
- Statistical Mechanics - Craig Callender and Jos Uffink
In addition, there will be a number of contributed papers, which will be presented in parallel sessions.
The conference will begin at 9.15am on Thursday 10th July 2008, and accommodation and dinner are available for the evenings of Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th.
The conference will end with lunch on Friday 11th, enabling those travelling to Aberdeen for the Joint Session of the Mind Association and Aristotelian Society to arrive in Aberdeen for the first paper at 5pm (see Travel for more details).
