Visiting Arché

How to Visit Arché as a Postgraduate

Arch regularly welcomes a small number of Visiting PhD students. They can expect the full 'Arch experience': supervision, involvement in all Arch seminars and events, office space in the Arch building, internet access, and library facilities. Additionally, Arch will make every effort to provide them with the opportunity to present their research in a formal setting.

Due to exceptionally high demand, Arch can accept only a limited number of Visiting Students each year. Arch accepts visitors during its two academic sessions:

  • Arch Martinmas Semester: 16th September - 23rd December
    Application deadline: 1 June
  • Arch Candlemas Semester: 31st March 4th July
    Application deadline: 21 November

Applications to visit must be received by the above deadlines. They will be assessed by Arch Council and the applicants notified shortly after these dates.

PhD students interested in visiting Arch should download an application form, available as a Word document and PDF document. When completed, application forms should be sent, along with accompanying documentation by email only to:

Please note that all Visiting Students, including those coming via exchange programmes and other institutional agreements, must follow the full application procedure.

If you require any further information, or would like to make an informal inquiry, please contact our office manager.
