FEE WAIVER SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PHD ENTRY IN SEPTEMBER


We are offering fee waiver scholarships in Social Anthropology at the University of St Andrews.

These 3-year scholarships will be awarded in late April to PhD applicants with outstanding research potential, to enable them to begin their research in Social Anthropology at St Andrews from September. We especially invite applicants whose area of interest relates to the department and its research centres.

The awards are equivalent to the domestic/EU fee. They will be awarded by competition. Applicants are invited to apply via the Postgraduate Office for a place on the programme, and their applications will be considered for these bursaries along with those of other applicants

DEADLINE: The deadline for applications to be received is 30th March 2012.

ESRC QUOTA AWARD FOR DOCTORAL STUDENTSHIPS SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY

We are delighted to announce that UK and EU students applying for PhD study in Social Anthropology at St Andrews are eligible for ESRC quota studentships.

These are extremely prestigious Research Council awards for excellent PhD applicants from the UK and EU. UK applicants receive fees, maintenance and research expenses.  EU students normally receive fees and research expenses only.  Four year (1+3) awards combine 1 year of MRes) research training with 3 further years' PhD funding.  Awards may also be held on a part-time basis.

DEADLINE: The deadline for applications to be received is 30th March 2012. 

To be considered for an ESRC award, candidates must first apply for admission to the St Andrews department of Social Anthropology for the MRes/ PhD.  Successful candidates nominated for quota awards and competition awards will be informed by the PG convenor.  Information on the ESRC awards and downloadable forms are available at from the ESRC Society Today website. Candidates should NOT complete an ESRC form until they are asked to do so by the relevant PG Advisor.
