ScholarshipsCAS SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION! Scholarships may be available where outstanding candidates present themselves. Please apply to the Postgraduate Office for a place on the PhD Programme, indicating that you wish to be considered for a CAS Scholarship (or for other awards overseen through the centre), and attaching to your application the documents requested below. Please apply before the end of February 2011. AWARDS 2012-13 Carolina Borda was awarded a Wenner Gren fieldwork Scholarship for 2012-2013. AWARDS 2011-12 A renewable CARICOM scholarship has been awarded to Laura Obermuller (Guyana) for 2011-2012. A STAR 1+3 ESRC scholarship has been awarded to Adom Philogene Heron (UK) for the period 2011-2015. A Santander scholarship has been awarded to Pablo Ibanez (Spain) for the period 2011-2014. A SORSAS scholarship has been awarded to Andreza Souza-Santos (Brazil) for the period 2011-2014 A CAS bursary has been awarded to Pablo Garcia (Spain) for the period 2011-2014 Pre-fieldwork student Lisa Grund has won a Russell Trust award for 2011. Lelong bequest scholarships for field research in Peruvian Amazonia were awarded to Victor Cova and Lukascz Krokoszynski for 2011-2012. Lukascz Krokoszynski was awarded a Wenner Gren fieldwork scholarship for 2011-2012. AWARDS 2010-11 Two three-year CAS bursaries have been awarded for tenure betweem 2010 and 2013 AWARDS 2009-10 One Santander Scholarship was awarded for tenure between 2010 and 2013: Carolina Borda (Colombia). One three-year CAS bursary has been awarded for tenure Feb 2010 till Feb 2013: Carolina Borda (Colombia) One three-year CAS bursary has been awarded for tenure 2009 till 2012: Cristina Basso (Italy) Two 3-year CAS bursaries were awarded to BURSARIES FOR STUDY IN CAS: APPLICATION PROCEDURE. The School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies is offering scholarships to enable high quality students to join the PhD Programme of the Centre for Amerindian, Latin American and Caribbean Studies and the Department of Social Anthropology. The bursaries are equivalent to the remission of European/Home fees over a period of three years. Candidates must secure a place on the postgraduate programme of the Department before they can be considered for a CAS scholarship. In the first instance candidates should apply to the PhD programme via the university webpage. Applicants will automatically become candidates for the CAS bursaries. In addition to the completed application form, please send: 1. An outline of your research interests and a Research Proposal
on a theme of Amerindian, Latin American or Caribbean interest (approx. 2000 words) Candidates who receive an offer of a place on the Anthropology doctoral programme will automatically be considered for a CAS scholarship Candidates from outside the European Community are encouraged to apply also for an ORS award, which can be held together with a CAS award and will cover the difference between home and overseas fees. See details on the University website. It should be remembered that the competition for the ORS awards comes from across the whole University and is very stiff. There are rarely more than around six awards, so overseas candidates are also advised to seek alternative sources of finance |
