Prospective Undergraduates
Individual Visiting Arrangements
If you are unable to attend a Visiting Day then an individual visit can be booked for a week-day more suitable to you.
Which booking form you complete will depend on where you currently live:
How to book an individual visit - UK/EU students
These visits are available on a Monday to Friday and begin at 11am. They are not available to book on a week when there is a scheduled Visiting Day.
To book, complete the UK or EU Visitor Form (Word, 51 KB) and send it to altvisit@st-andrews.ac.uk
Note: You must give three possible dates that you are available to come to St Andrews as not all dates will necessarily be available. We require at least two weeks' notice in advance of your first proposed visit date and we will contact you to confirm your visit date within four working days of receiving your request.
We are unable to offer UK/EU visitors access to academic departments or University Managed Accommodation during an individual visit. This is in order to respect the privacy of current students and to allow academic colleagues to focus on teaching and research in order to maintain our culture of academic excellence.
Your visit would include the following:
Walking Tours (45 minutes)
These tours are given by Student Ambassadors. The majority of the tour takes place outdoors where you will be shown around the central streets and buildings of St Andrews.
Subjects covered during the Walking Tour include the University's history, student traditions and student life. Visitors are actively encouraged to ask questions. Please be prepared for the temperamental Scottish weather and note that for security reasons, no luggage can be stored during the tour.
Watching the University DVD (15 minutes)
On arrival back at the Admissions building, you will be shown the University DVD which is designed to give you a brief overview of the University and the St Andrews student experience. You can also watch it here Video.
Question & Answer Session (45 minutes)
After the DVD, you will meet with one of our Admissions Officers. This talk (usually within a small group) covers application information, degree structure, accommodation, University facilities and University life. You should read the undergraduate Entry Requirements before you request to visit as it is likely that prospective students not meeting our entrance requirements at the first examination diet will not be offered a place. Unfortunately staff in this session will be unable to give any indication whether or not a potential UCAS application would be successful or not.
