Events on a Visiting Day

Registration

Location: Lower College Hall, St Salvator's Quad

You are welcome to register anytime between 9.15am and 11:45am.  During registration you will have the opportunity to speak to representatives from across the University, including Student Services, the Music Centre, Saints Sport and the Student Association.  Staff from Admissions will also be on hand to answer any questions.

Much of the day is led by Student Ambassadors and visitors are encouraged to ask questions throughout the day.

Tours

These tours are led by a University Student Ambassador.  Leaving from St Salvator's Quadrangle they last for one hour and take place on a rolling basis from 9.15 am with the last tour departing at 12 noon.

We try to ensure that groups are normally no larger than twenty people, however, this can be difficult to keep to on some of our busier Visiting Days.

The majority of the tour takes place outdoors and takes you around the central streets and buildings of St Andrews. The tour will incorporate information on the University's history as well as student life and University traditions before concluding at one of our Halls of Residence.

A tour of accommodation includes a visit to a bedroom, as well as the dining area and communal areas. Please note that you cannot choose which Hall of Residence you will visit.  This tour is designed to give you a brief insight into one of the many wide ranging types of residential accommodation available.

Optional Morning Sessions

On 14th November and 13th March we will open the museum from 12noon until 4pm and there will be one tour at 3pm.  Visitors and/or their guests are encouraged to visit our Museum and discover the history and collections of Scotland's first University.

Saint Sport - Tours

There are four sports centre visitor sessions throughout the morning at the following times: 10:30, 11:00, 11:30 and 12:00. Saints Sport staff will give you a tour of the sports centre facilities and talk you through the vast array of sporting opportunities on offer at St Andrews.

An Introduction to St Andrews

These sessions take place between 12 noon and 2pm and are held in various venues accross the University and will cover important topics relating to admissions, academic structure, accommodation and student support as well as student life.  You will be provided with a personalised itinerary which includes details of sessions specific to you.

After this session, Ambassadors will be on hand to help direct you to academic departments.

Afternoon Visits to Academic Departments

Department specific visits take place at 2.15 pm and/or 3.15 pm and each session lasts between 30-50 minutes. You can visit a maximum of two academic departments on a Visiting Day.  You also have the option of just visiting one academic department.

These sessions provide an opportunity for you to meet with an academic member of staff and to learn more about your intended subject area(s).
