Students with disabilities
The University is committed to helping students realise their academic potential and it is our policy to assess applications from all students on strictly academic grounds. A prospective student's disability will not stand in the way of him or her being offered the chance to study at St Andrews and recent years have seen an ongoing programme of improving physical access to the University's its many departments.
The University has students with a wide range of disabilities and learning difficulties.
Within the Student Services team, there are Disability & Dyslexia Advisers, who can be contacted for information, advice on access, modified equipment and support. Applicants to any of the University's courses are advised to make known their needs on any application form and/or at interview.
Potential students should make an appointment with one of the Advisers at an early stage, so that the University can best respond in terms of appropriate support and advice. If students feel they may require special teaching or examination allowances/ arrangements, such a request would have to be supported by relevant documentation from a medical practitioner or a registered psychologist, and will also need to be discussed with the Student Services staff who are happy to offer advice.
