International Qualifications

The University of St Andrews welcomes applications from students from outside the UK and accepts qualifications from around the world.
All applicants must satisfy the Faculty Entrance Requirements as well as the entry requirements specific to the degree programme to which application is made. Equivalent international school-leaving certificates, matriculation certificates, technical college diplomas, university degrees, and other qualifications will be accepted in complete or partial satisfaction of the Faculty Entrance Requirements.
International undergraduate students should include on their application forms the details of subjects studied and the grades awarded. The University prefers to see a broad range of subjects taken at secondary school.
Not every international school-leaving certificate meets the University's normal entrance requirements. Students who hold such certificates may consolidate their academic qualifications and improve their English language and study skills by taking a Foundation programme specifically designed for international students. Successful completion of these programmes allows entry to the University of St Andrews and is also widely recognised as an entrance qualification to other UK universities.
International Baccalaureate - please refer to the Degree List for the points required for individual subjects. Offers tend to be in the 35+ points range including the Theory of Knowledge.
