Alternative Assessments

Since the first semester of the St Andrews academic year does not finish until the end of January, you will be required to return to St Andrews after the December vacation to sit your examinations.

However, for those Semester One (JSA) students who, for academic reasons, must return to their home institution in January and therefore cannot return to St Andrews to take examinations, The University of St Andrews does make alternative arrangements in the form of assessments in December.

The following list contains the names of those North American colleges and universities who HAVE agreed with St Andrews that their students can take the alternative assessments

If your College or University is not listed here and you wish to be considered for the alternative assessments, then you MUST obtain written permission from the appropriate office at your institution and submit it to Exchanges and Study Abroad here at St Andrews prior to your arrival in September.
