International Foundation Programmes

The University's Centre for International Foundation Programmes offers a variety of undergraduate foundation programmes for students whose first language is not English, specifically designed to bridge the gap between school-leaving qualifications in their home country and the demands of a university degree programme. Our foundation programmes are full-time, and there are programmes starting in September, October and January.

The University recognises that although potential students have good educational qualifications from their own country, these national school-leaving qualifications may not be suitable for degree level study in the UK.  In addition, students may not have sufficient proficiency in English language or may have little experience of the approach to study which is normal in the British university system.  Most importantly, they may not have studied their intended subjects in sufficient depth for university entrance.

A Foundation programme provides experience of the cultural and academic contexts within which students will have to work at a UK university, together with courses and modules in a range of academic subjects integrated with language training.

Undergraduate programmes

Our full-time undergraduate foundation programmes are intensive courses of study designed to give students the necessary subject knowledge, language and study skills to equip them for successful university entrance.
