External Scholarships for International Students
The following scholarships are administered and funded outside the University of St Andrews but may be available to eligible students who wish to attend the University. Further details about each award can be found at the websites linked below.

The R. Harper Brown Memorial Scholarship
The Illinois Saint Andrew Society is pleased to sponsor this scholarship program which honors the late R. Harper Brown, Society governor, 1996 Clansman of the Year, co-chair of the Kith & Kin Campaign and former chairman of the development committee. The purpose of the Scholarship Fund is to assist in defraying the cost of a college student's study at a university in Scotland. Eligibility is limited to:
Sophomores in an accredited American college or university (although applications are now accepted for students who wish to study their full degree in Scotland); An ISAS member, or the child or grandchild of such a member.
The criteria for selection will include scholastic achievement potential for future activities that would make a contribution to the Illinois Saint Andrew Society and the greater Scottish community. Preference will be given to applicants who reside within 100 miles of the greater Chicago area

Application forms should be returned as directed between 1 January and 31 March of the scholarship grant year. Awards will be made in late spring subject to the student's acceptance by the Scottish university of choice.
Katherine Smith Bursary
Open only to candidates who have been educated at St Leonards School. Further information is available from St Leonards School, St Andrews, KY16 9QJ.
The McEuen Scholarship
This scholarship was established specifically to support a Canadian student who has already applied to study at St Andrews for a first degree. Applicants must be:
- Canadian citizens, of Scottish ancestry or whose parents include a St Andrews alumna/us 21 years old or less on 1 January of the year of entry to St Andrews
- Eligible to attend a Canadian university, or who are in their first or second year of study at such an institution.
The scholarship covers tuition fees and board and lodging in a university residence. The United Kingdom 9/11 Scholarships Fund
The United Kingdom 9/11 Scholarships Fund provides awards for study in higher or further education in the United Kingdom to children or dependants of victims of the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.
Degree programmes for which applications are accepted include:

Undergraduate courses lasting no more than four years and leading to a degree at a recognised higher education institution in the UK

Masters degree programmes at recognised higher education institutions in the UK

Courses leading to a recognised qualification at a further education institution in the UK

Accredited study periods of up to one year's length at recognised British higher education institutions for students whose college or university has an exchange agreement with a partner institution in the UK
