Postgraduate visits
If you are at all interested in studying at St Andrews then a visit to the town and University is a good way to start so that you can get a taste of what life here is like. St Andrews is a small town and seen by many as an idyllic location for intense study.
There are two ways to visit us:
Visiting Days
The University of St Andrews holds two Visiting Days specifically for postgraduate students each year, both for those interested in taught masters courses and for those investigating research degree opportunities.

- Walking and Residency tours - guided by a student ambassador
- Welcome Talk - topics covered include University demography, the range and cost of student accommodation, student welfare and support, sport and recreation and the benefits of a degree from the University of St Andrews
- Department Visit - meet with an academic from your chosen field of study
- Drop-in sessions to Students Union, Chaplaincy and the Sports Centre.
Postgraduate Visiting Day dates:
- Wednesday 13 March 2013
- November 2013 (Date to be confirmed)

Individual visitors
Coming on a Visiting Day is the best way to experience our University, however, if this is not convenient then you can arrange an individual visit on a day to suit you. These visits are available on a Monday to Friday and begin at 10am.
To book, complete the PG Individual Visitor Booking Form (Word, 109 KB) and email it to altvisit@st-andrews.ac.uk
You are advised to wait for confirmation of your booking before making travel arrangements.
We require at least 2 weeks' notice in advance of your visit in order to arrange an itinerary for you. A visit to a School or Department may not be possible at short-notice.
Your visit will include the following:
University DVD (15 minutes)
You will be shown the University DVD which is designed to give you a brief overview of the University and the St Andrews student experience.
Question and Answer Session (45 minutes)
You will meet with one of our Admissions Officers for a talk which covers application information, degree structure, accommodation, University facilities and University life, followed by a question and answer session.
Walking Tour (45 minutes)
These tours are given by a Student Ambassador with the majority of the tour taking place outdoors where you will be shown around the central streets and buildings of St Andrews.
Subjects covered during the walking tour include the University's history, student traditions and student life.
Please note: it is not possible to view University accommodation buildings during an individual visit.
School/Department Visit (if available)
We will do our best to arrange a department visit to meet with an academic from your proposed field of study. However, this is not always possible due to the teaching commitments of staff.
