Postgraduate visits
If you are at all interested in studying at St Andrews then a visit to the town and University is a good way to start so that you can get a flavour of what life here is like. St Andrews is a small town and seen by many as an idyllic location for intense study. There are two ways in which you can visit, either book in to one of our scheduled Visiting Days or alternatively arrange a visit to suit you on an Individual Visit.
Visiting Days

The University of St Andrews holds two Visiting Days specifically for postgraduate students each year, both for those interested in taught masters courses and for those investigating the research degree opportunities.
Events available on a typical Visiting Day include:
- Registration - meet the Postgraduate Recruitment Team and Postgraduate Ambassadors who will talk you through your itinerary for the day
- Walking and Residency tours - guided by a student ambassador
- Welcome Talk - topics covered include University demography, the range and cost of student accommodation, student welfare and support, sport and recreation and the benefits of a degree from the University of St Andrews
- Department Visit - meet with an academic from your chosen field of study
- Drop-in sessions to Students Union, Chaplaincy and the Sports Centre.

Individual visitors
It is strongly recommended that visitors attend one of our published Visiting Days, however, if this is not convenient, then you are welcome to come and visit us on a day to suit you (Monday to Friday only). We are happy to accept visitors to the University and you can normally expect to meet with one of our Recruitment Officers to gain an overview of the facilities and services offered. It is also beneficial for prospective students to go on a short tour with a current student, so that you can experience what life in town is like and speak to someone who is already part of the institution. Of course, we also offer the chance to meet staff from the academic schools and departments that you are interested in.
Personal visits can be arranged at any time of the year when our offices are open, but we prefer to have notice of your intention to visit at least one week before your arrival in order to make specific arrangements for you. However, if you would like to visit at short notice please call ahead and we will endeavour to make a full visit possible.
A normal individual visit normally lasts around three hours and includes a general welcome talk, a tour of the town and University buildings before you meet with academic staff.
To book an individual visit, please complete the PG Individual Visitor Booking Form (Word, 110 KB) and return to us by email or post to Admissions: Postgraduate Office, St Katharine's West, 16 The Scores, St Andrews, Fife KY16 9AX
You are advised to wait for confirmation of your booking before making travel arrangements.
