St Andrews GRADskills Programme
Launched in 2005, the GRADskills Programme aims to enhance the general research skills and personal effectiveness of postgraduate students and to broaden their employability after graduation. It has been designed with input from current postgraduates and academic supervisors, and in light of recommendations from UK Research Councils and other national authorities. Its quality is maintained by using professional trainers and consultants with expertise in particular fields to deliver relevant courses and workshops to postgraduate students at different stages in their degree.
The GRADskills Programme includes a wide range of training courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, study visits and other events from which students can select to meet their individual training requirements, educational interests and career ambitions.
An introduction to GRADskills is given at Induction, and students are kept up to date with on-going programme developments and opportunities throughout the year via a dedicated postgraduate skills website.
In addition to its own courses, participation in the GRADskills Programme also allows postgraduates to take advantage of events offered in collaboration with other Scottish universities and national organisations such as the Vitae programme.
