Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loans (PTFL)
From session 2012-2013 the current Postgraduate Student Allowances Scheme (PSAS) will be replaced with a repayable student support model. Eligible postgraduate students can apply to SAAS for a "Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loan" (PTFL) from April 2012 to help with the cost of their fees. For general information about the scheme, please visit the SAAS website.
For 2012-13 entry, PTFL funding provides a repayable loan of up to £3,400 (up to £1,700 for part-time students) to assist with the Home tuition fee, and does not include maintenance grants.
To be eligible to apply for support you must:
- meet the set residence conditions (see the residence conditions page on the SAAS website for more details)
- be studying a course that is supported by the scheme; and
- not have received support from UK public funds for a previous vocational postgraduate course. Or if you are an EU (including UK) national, you have not received support from another EU country.
Please note that only a limited number of courses at St Andrews are supported by PTFL. Funding will be available for eligible students on the following courses:
- Advanced Computer Science
- Applied Statistics & Data Mining
- Graduate Diploma Information Technology
- Management and Information Technology
- Museum and Gallery Studies
