Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
In May 2000, the University and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland formed a partnership to award research degrees. Under this agreement, the University of St Andrews validates research degrees offered by the Academy; on successful completion of their programmes of study, research students registered at the Academy receive an award from the University.
The Academy's subject expertise is distinctive and complementary to that of the University, its research ethos being based firmly on the centrality of performance in all of its activities. The fact that submissions for higher degrees made under this agreement are practice-based and performance-related places both the University and the Academy at the forefront of developments in research in the performing arts. Research students are based at the Academy, but are also matriculated students of the University and have access to the resources of both institutions.
