CAS numbers and applying for a visa
Postgraduate applicants who require a visa to study in the UK can apply to enter under the Tier-4 points based system.
Please note that you can only apply for a visa up to 3 months before the start of your programme.
A CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) will be supplied by us to support your visa application and you must wait for this to be sent to you before starting your application.
In order for us begin the CAS process you must have:
• an unconditional offer and satisfied any conditions
• paid any pre-payments required as stated in your offer
• provided your passport information
• applied for an ATAS certificate (this will have been highlighted in your offer letter if required)
For applicants who are required to attend our pre-sessional English Language programmes as a condition of their admission, please refer to our English Language Teaching pages.
For September entry we will begin the CAS process at the beginning of June; we will send you a pre-check email which will contain your personal details and programme information which you should check carefully and advise us of any alterations. Once we have received notification that the information we hold is accurate we will then notify you of your CAS number which is essential for you to start your visa application through the UKBA website.
Before applying for your visa, you must make sure that you have the original documents required and any financial statements or money in an account ready to support you in your studies. There is more detailed information available on the applying for a visa page.
If you have any further questions then please email us directly.
Visa processing times
Depending on the country you are applying from, visa processing times can vary. Please visit the UKBA website Countries page where you can track the status of your application if you have already submitted one and find out the current processing times.
Tuberculosis Screening
Applicants from certain countries/regions require a certificate to show that they are free from infectious pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). It is advisable to check the UKBA website for further information on the current requirements.
