Welcome to Special Collections
Welcome to the Special Collections Department of St Andrews University Library. The Department is home to the Library's manuscripts and rare printed books, as well as its extensive photographic collections and the University muniments.
There is a supervised Reading Room which is open for use by visiting scholars and the general public as well as staff and students of the University. However, due to limited space at our current location, visiting is by appointment only. Please email or phone (see below for contact details) to book an appointment.
The Department is involved in facilitating academic research, family and local history and history of the University, cataloguing and digitisation projects, mounting exhibitions, providing primary sources for teaching, digital copying of images and photographic reprints, and runs a student volunteer programme.
