Professor Dina Iordanova, MA, PhD, FRSA

Dina Iordanova was appointed as St Andrews' first Chair in Film Studies in 2004. Having previously worked at the Universities of Texas at Austin, Chicago, and Leicester, she launched a portfolio of Film Studies programmes and led the start of the department's dramatic climb up the research league tables to achieving the best score in Scotland in the 2008 RAE. Her research interests are in the area of transnational cinema and global creative industries; her recent work includes The Film Festival Circuit (2009, with R. Rhyne), Moving People, Moving Images (2010, with W. Brown and L. Torchin), Cinema at the Periphery (2010, with D. Martin-Jones and B. Vidal), Film Festivals and Imagined Communities (2010, with R. Cheung), Film Festivals and East Asia (2011, with R. Cheung), Film Festivals and Activism (2012, with L. Torchin), and Digital Disruption (2012, with S. Cunningham). Her work has been translated into 20 languages. She is in receipt of funding from the Leverhulme Trust, the AHRC, the Royal Society of Edinburgh and international foundations. She is Fellow of the Institute of Directors and of the Royal Society of the Arts, and serves on the Board of the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
