Derek Watson
Derek Watson is the Quaestor and Factor.
Responsibilities of the Quaestor and Factor include:
- Leading and developing financial control and management
- Estates
- Residential and Business Services
A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, he joined the University in December 2002 as Financial Controller. He was promoted to Quaestor & Factor in June 2003 at which time the role was that of the University’s Chief Financial Officer with additional responsibilities for the University Estate, Residential & Business Services, Procurement and Pensions.
Over time the role has evolved and in March 2011 was re-designated As Chief Operating Officer with overall responsibility for all of the University’s Support Services – specific responsibility for Strategic Financial Management being delegated to the University’s first Finance Director.
Before joining the University Derek was the Deputy Director of Finance and Property Development Manager for an NHS Trust.
