Professor Lorna Milne
Professor Lorna Milne is Vice-Principal (Proctor).
Responsibilities of the Vice-Principal (Proctor) include:
- Oversight and Development of the University's Teaching and Learning Strategy
- Development and Management of internal practices and policies related to Learning and Teaching
- Centre for Academic, Professional and Organisational Development (CAPOD)
- Student Services
- Chaplaincy
- Students' Association
After completing an MA (Honours) in French at the University of St Andrews, Lorna Milne joined HM Diplomatic Service, working in London and East Berlin before returning to academia and a PhD at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Her research and teaching focus on modern and contemporary French literature, with a particular interest in the French Antilles. She holds the rank of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques for her work in French Studies. Since Prof Milne came to St Andrews as a Lecturer in 1996 she has held various administrative roles including Dean of Arts (2006 – 2009).
