Professor Alyson Tobin
Professor Alyson Tobin is a Professor in the School of Biology and Dean of the Faculty of Science. She has held academic posts at the Universities of York, Sussex and Manchester prior to coming to St Andrews (in 1994). She has a BSc and PhD from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and has held scholarships at the Universities of Munster and Bochum (Germany) and Grenoble (France) and two research fellowships from The Royal Society (London). Professor Tobin teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students within the School of Biology, carries out research in plant cell physiology and metabolism, and has recently co-authored a Plant Biochemistry textbook for undergraduates. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Dundee Science Centre and serves on a number of committees involved in science communication and outreach to schools.
