Accommodation at Fife Park 2013/2014

Fife Park has been vacated for the second semester  2013  for a potential major refurbishment later in the year. Final approvals are awaited therefore there is some uncertainty over the projects nature and timeframe.

Refurbished houses will accommodate 5 persons in single rooms with shared shower room and toilets. Some houses  may be organised in pairs and interconnected  with larger kitchen /lounge area but with 10 rooms. Refurbished properties will have new heating systems, better insulation, new doors and windows and the addition of a lounge area. Internally the houses will be fully redecorated with new carpets.

Fife Park after refurbishment will remain alongside Albany Park as the least expensive of all the University’s accommodation.

Due to the timing of the works it is possible that there may have to be a rolling programme after the summer vacation, with some students being accommodated in existing  pre-refurbished properties and then being required to move to refurbished properties as they become available.

It is likely that there will be controlled building activities in areas of Fife Park during termtime as it is unlikely that the whole project will be completed in the summer. Once the project has been developed further  plan layouts and artists impressions will be displayed at DRA and we will create a webpage for further information. As the project is at such an early stage it is not possible to do so at this time. The purpose of this information is to alert you to the situation and to inform you of the potential implication for you as a resident of accepting a place in Fife Park so that you can make an informed decision.
