How and when to apply for accommodation
To be guaranteed accommodation you must submit your completed application form to Student Accommodation Services before 31st May in the year of entry and have met all the guarantee conditions. Please note that the guarantee only applies to first year entry students.
When to apply?
Once you receive an offer of a place to study at the University it is time to apply. Please do not wait for your offer status to change, regardless of whether your offer is conditional or unconditional you need to apply by 31st May in your year of entry to meet the accommodation guarantee.
How to apply?
- If you have been made an offer of a place to study for the current year at St Andrews you will receive an email with details on how to reply to your offer and how to proceed. - The completed and submitted form should be returned to accommapps@st-andrews.ac.uk by the given deadline.
- You should receive an automatic acknowledgment email from this account, if you do not please contact Student Accommodation Services. Please do not email this account with an enquiry these should be directed to accommodation@st-andrews.ac.uk
What will happen next?
Student Accommodation Services do not pre-allocate accommodation to students. Allocation begins in June for students whose offer of a place is Unconditional and who have confirmed their acceptance of this place with Admissions. Thereafter, allocations continue throughout the summer as and when final examination results are received and the status of individual UCAS applications changes from Conditional to Unconditional.
Once accommodation has been allocated you will receive a link by email directing you to your e-contract, which needs a reply within 10 days. As we have experienced problems with some email addresses not accepting the automated offer we advise you to check this link regularly once you have accepted your unconditional offer: Residence e-contract. Accommodation contracts are for a fixed period of the full academic session unless you are only studying here for one semester.
