How to apply?
You will apply on line via isaint from 1 April - 30 June in your year of entry.
Tips for completing the form
Please ensure that you read about the different options available on our Residences page. As we have several small halls, we ask that you apply by the 'type' of residence and you must specify a different type for each of the four preferenes as we cannot accept the names of the individual halls. There are five different types of accommodation available which are:
- Ensuite self-catered - This choice includes David Russell Apartments and Agnes Blackadder Hall.
- Ensuite catered - This option includes David Russell Apartments, John Burnet Annexe and a limited number of rooms in University Hall.
- Standard catered - This options includes John Burnet Hall, McIntosh Hall, St Regulus Hall, St Salvator's Hall and University Hall.
- Andrew Melville Hall - This is the only hall that is specified as an option for you to choose as it is cheaper than the other standard catered halls and has only one shared room.
- Standard self-catered - Albany Park.
If you have a special dietary requirement or other queries regarding catering in halls, please contact our catering department on studentcatering@st-andrews.ac.uk for further advice on what can be offered to you in our halls. Once you have been allocated a place, please email the Chef Manager for that hall who will be happy to discuss your specific requirements. Details can be found on the Hall Specific Information sheets at the back of the Documents and information.
What will happen next?
Student Accommodation Services do not pre-allocate accommodation to students. Allocation begins in July for students whose offer of a place is Unconditional and who have confirmed their acceptance of this place with Admissions. Thereafter, allocations continue throughout the summer as and when final examination results are received and the status of individual UCAS applications changes from Conditional to Unconditional.
Once accommodation has been allocated you will receive a link by email directing you to isaint and your offer, which needs a reply within 10 days. As we have experienced problems with some email addresses not accepting the automated offer we advise you to check this link regularly from July onwards if you have accepted an unconditional offer. Accommodation contracts are for a fixed period of the full academic session unless you are only studying here for one semester.
