Student Accommodation Services photo competition

Student Accommodation Services are excited to announce the launch of our first ever photo contest for current St Andrews staff and students.
This is your chance to share your experiences of life in the University of St Andrews residences, and you could win a fantastic prize if your submission is judged the best capture of life in University accommodation. In addition, all photos submitted (winners and non-winners) may be used for publicity purposes in publications and on our webpages, giving you a fantastic opportunity to have your photos viewed by a worldwide audience!
Who is the competition open to?
The competition is open to all current St Andrews staff and students, including those who will graduate in June 2013.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for photographs that represent student life in University accommodation. This is not limited to photographs of the actual buildings. The photographs can represent any aspect of resident life that you feel captures student experience in University accommodation, whether that is dancing at the hall ball, partying on raisin weekend, eating in the dining room, hanging out with friends in the kitchen or bedroom or even doing some studying!
Prizes
Staff and student submissions will be judged separately and a winner will be picked from each category. Both the student winner and the staff winner will receive a fantastic £100 Amazon voucher!
Rules of entry
- You must be a current member of staff or a student at the University of St Andrews (students graduating in 2013 are eligible to enter)
- By entering the contest you will be giving Student Accommodation Services permission to use your photographs for publicity purposes in publications including leaflets/flyers and on our webpages.
- Photographs must be original and must have been taken by the entrant and should be appropriate for use by the University in marketing activities.
- Please avoid taking close-up photos of children (under 16) in any indoor or outdoor setting.
- We would like to encourage photos that have groups of adults or individuals (over 16), however if you are doing a close up shot and they are the main subject of the photo, you must ask for their permission and let them know that the photo may be used for publicity purposes, including the internet. Please also remember to take a note of their names.
- A maximum of 10 photographs may be submitted per person.
- Photographs must be submitted to the competition as detailed below and by the published deadline.
- Members of the shortlisting and judging panel are not eligible to enter.
- If you are not a resident of the hall, you will need seek permission to arrange access prior to taking photographs from the hall’s Resident Service Manager.
Deadline
The competition will close at 12 noon on Tuesday 30 April 2013.
Judging
Entries will be short listed by Student Accommodation Services and the winning entries judged jointly by themselves and Senior Students, winners will be notified by email after the closing date.
