Located directly across from the Cathedral ruins, in an area of town steeped in history, Deans Court is housed in a building dating back to the 15th century. Deans Court’s is only a five minute walk from the Library, and several Arts buildings.

Deans Court benefits from a good sense of community.

Deans Court complex consists of 61 rooms: the main building accommodates 21 students, with the remaining 40 rooms located in 7 other buildings.

Residence fees 2023/24

UK RPI (all items) which is the main measure we use to set the rents, was at the time of setting the rents in September 2023 8.5%. To support this below RPI increase, RBS has been asked to consider some changes to services. Housekeeping arrangements in traditional halls will change from September 2024, staff will clean shared bathrooms and kitchens (unless they are part of a flat) as well as corridors and other public areas.  Bedrooms will not be cleaned and students will be responsible for disposing of rubbish and recycling.  In line with ensuite accommodation, monthly cleanliness and safety checks will be carried out.

Summer 2024 Refurbishments

Due to rolling refurbishments 5, 7 and 9 North Street rooms will only be available for 37 week contracts (2nd September 2023 - 18 May 2024).  Students allocated with a 37 week contract will be able to apply for summer accommodation if it is required.  This is likely to involve a transfer to a different residence.

Summer 2025 External Refurbishment

3-5 South Street

Roof and stonework repairs are planned for Summer 2025, requiring the building to be unoccupied during that period. Rooms will be offered on a 38 week contact 7th September 2024 until 31st May 2025.  You will get the opportunity to apply for summer accommodation. Details will be provided nearer the time.

We have reviewed the accommodation types within Deans Court and the annexes and, from September 2021 the rent will be based on each type of room and the facilities within and around the room. This will reflects the floor space available and the facilities each room offers in a fairer manner.

  • Three self-contained flats with two single occupancy bedrooms in each flat.  All beds are single size.
