Internet (ResNet)

The residence network (ResNet) provides you with a direct connection to the University network and so to the Internet. This is a cabled ethernet network (10/100 Mbps). "Direct" means, among other things, that you plug your computer directly into a network socket rather than going through a telephone line.

For more information, please see the ResNet website.

Telephone (ResTel)

You will find a telephone handset in your room. This provides you with your own private dedicated telephone line with optional voicemail. The line will already be activated for internal calls. This telephone service is included in your room rental, however before you can make external calls you must register (online) with ResTel.

Television

Students with televisions require a TV licence. The residence's licence covers the TVs in communal areas, but this won't cover a TV in your bedroom or kitchen. So, if you're planning to watch TV in these areas, make sure you're covered by a valid licence.

Residents of Fife Park Apartments, David Russell Apartments and Agnes Blackadder Hall, whose accommodation is supplied with a television must still provide their own licence.  The TV licence for the residential communal areas does not cover individual bedrooms and/or flats.
