Suwanee Arunsawodiwong ‘Productivity Trends in the Thai Manufacturing Sector: the pre- and post-crisis evidence relating to the 1997 economic crisis’. (Supervisor Gavin C Reid) Graduated 2007. Suwanee is now Second Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangkok, Thailand, and writes the weekly economic development Minute for the Thai Cabinet.

 

Miroslav Beblavy ‘Central Bank Independence and Monetary Policy in Eastern Europe’ (Supervisor David Cobham) Graduated 2005. Miroslav went on to become State Secretary of Labour, Slovak Republic, and is now Director of the Slovak Governance Institute.

 

Simon Bowmaker ‘The Economics of Entry into Marriage’ (Supervisor Ian Smith) Graduated 2009. Simon went on to become Clinical Associate Professor of Economics, at the New York University Stern School of Business.

 

Kirby Faciane ‘Empirical Market Microstructure of the FTSEurofirst index futures’ (Supervisors Arnab Bhattacharjee, Gavin C Reid) Graduated 2010. Kirby works as a freelance analyst in California.

 

Jennifer Franz ‘Quantification and Evaluation of Environmental Health in Central Asia’ (Supervisor Felix FitzRoy) Graduated 2007. Jennifer went on to become a Research Associate in the Institute for Development Policy and Management, University of Manchester, and is currently a Fellow of the School of Geography and Geoscience, University of St Andrews.

 

Andreas Humpe ‘Macroeconomic Variables and the Stock Market: and empirical comparison of the USA and Japan’ (Supervisors Peter Macmillan and Arnab Bhattacharjee) Graduated 2008. Andreas has worked as an investment, equity and financial analyst in Germany, and is currently an analyst with Lazards.

 

Benjamin Kelly ‘ Sunk Cost Accounting and Entrapment in Corporate Acquistions and Financial Markets: an experimental analysis’ (Supervisor, Shane Bonetti) Graduated 2008. Benjamin is a financial analyst with Blackrock in Edinburgh. 

 

Jing Liang ‘Market Segmentation and Dual-Listed Stock Price Premium: and empirical investigation of the Chinese stock market’ Graduated 2009. (Supervisors Rod McCrorie, Gary Shea) Jing works in the financial community in the Peoples Republic of China.

 

 

Samar Maziad ‘Monetary Frameworks in Developing Countries: Central Bank Independence and Exchange Rate Mechanisms’ Supervisors, David Cobham, Felix FitzRoy) Graduated 2008. Samar is an Economist at the Strategy Policy and Review Department, International Monetary Fund, Washington DC.

 

Francisco Rosique ‘The Determinants of Corporate Growth’ (Supervisor Felix FitzRoy) Graduated in 2010. Francisco is a business consultant and company director in Spain.

 

Vandana Ujjual ‘High Technology Firm Performance, Innovation, and Networks: an empirical analysis of firms in Scottish high technology clusters’ (Supervisor, Gavin C Reid) Graduated 2008. Vandana went on to research posts in the University of Queensland, Australia, and is currently a Research Fellow at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex.

 

Zhibin Xu ‘Factors Which Affect the Dynamics of Privately-Owned Chinese Firms: an interdisciplinary empirical evaluation’ (Supervisor, Gavin C Reid) Graduated 2007. Zhibin went on to a Lectureship in International Business in the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and then worked with Standard Chartered Bank China in Beijing.
