Postgraduate Funding Opportunities

The School of History is pleased to be able to offer a number of scholarships for postgraduate study to be taken up in academic year 2012-13. 

At MLitt level we will invite applications for one-year awards worth the cash equivalent of one year’s home fees.

At PhD level we will invite applications for:

up to 4 AHRC studentships for students beginning a PhD (home fees plus maintenance, depending on eligibility);

2 scholarships worth £8,000 per year for each of the 3 years of PhD study;

2 Holbeck Charitable Trust History Scholarships worth £8,000 per year for each of the 3 years of PhD study;

2 further scholarships worth £4,000 per year for each of the 3 years of PhD study.

In addition, there are 2 full scholarships attached to the AHRC-funded project Heirs to the Throne in the Constitutional Monarchies of Nineteenth-Century Europe (1815-1914)

We also offer a number of scholarships for intensive language study, available to final year students intending to begin an MLitt in 2011, or to current Masters students intending to begin a PhD in 2011.

Recent Graduate Discount

St Andrews graduates who have graduated during the last 3 years and who are applying for postgraduate courses at the University starting in 2012-13 are entitled to a 10% discount on tuition fees. More details.
