Welcome to the School of Geography & Geosciences

The School's mission is to promote world class teaching and research across a broad spectrum of Geography and Geosciences. We are an interdisciplinary community of around 27 academic staff, 22 research staff, 35 support staff, 22 postgraduates and over 500 undergraduates. Our teaching is research-led and was judged 'excellent' by an external quality audit. Both the Guardian and the Times University Guides for 2010 rank us among the top places in the UK to study Geography and Geosciences.

We have a lively and expanding community of both research and taught postgraduates within our two major research groupings. The main focus of the School is the Irvine Building, situated in the centre of historic St Andrews, where facilities for research are excellent and staff members are readily accessible to students.
